The Most Extraordinary Wins

The process is much the same for most. For some it is a process planned in the most delicate details, for others it is a spur of the moment decision made purely on emotion and gut feelings, yet it mostly can be defined as a process of determining the odds, deciding on a team, placing your bet and waiting for the outcome. Then sometimes for some people, the result is an extraordinary win, a life-changing event, the issue that most only dream about. Here are the stories of some of those people.

Eastern European Youngster Winning $14 million.

It was during the 2017 World Series when an Eastern European punter in his twenties placed his bet on the game between the Houston Astros and the LA Dodgers. Following a moment driven by emotion and gut, rather than intellect and careful consideration, he decided to let his bet ride along for a couple more games. Lady Luck was on his side and on 1 November 2017, he became the happy winner of $14 million after the sixth game.

According to the record books, the most significant win ever from accumulator was in March 2011 set in the UK when Steve Whitely made a brilliant £1.45 million from a bet of only £2. This plumbing engineer from Tawton made a selection of six winners from a variety of horse races in both Ireland and the UK on Exeter Tote Jackpot, which delivered immaculate returns.

Craggs, From Rags to Riches

The sixty-year-old Fred Craggs used to be a fertilizer salesman in Yorkshire. He placed his winning 8-fold accumulator at William Hill, making his choice from international horse racing meets. From his investment of 50p, Craggs became the winner of £1 million. The irony of his tale is that Craggs was utterly unaware of his newly acquired wealth until he went back to his bookmaker to place another bet.

Once again it was horse racing which delivered tremendous wealth to one anonymous punter placing no more than a £19 bet. During April this year, he or she put a 5-fold from a variety of meets at the bookmaker, Coral. This turned out to be the most significant payout ever made by Coral when the lucky punter won a significant £823 000.

Yates Predicting Dettori

28 September 1996 became the day in the life of Darren Yates, which will always be remembered as one of the greatest in horse racing history. He managed to accurately predict the results of Frankie Dettori’s Magic Seven Race which took place in Ascot. From no more than a £67.58 bet, Dettori’s success delivered £550 823 to this fortunate punter.

During March 2016 an anonymous punter placed a wager of $5 parlay bet at William Hill on a selection of basketball matches due to take place. Even though two NBA teams were included in this selection, the punter mainly backed collegial groups. A success story unfolds when the punter earns $305 000 from this $5 investment.
